Benjamin Alves enjoys his role as Basil in 'Widows' War'

Benjamin Alves has an absolute scene-stealer of a performance in "Widows' War."

The Sparkle star plays Basil Palacios, the cousin of the late Paco Palacios (Rafael Rosell) and husband of Georgina Balay (Carla Abellana).

Currently, Basil is the subject of many conversations from fans due to his sassy attitude, apparent secrets, and blackmailing of Paco's widow Samantha Castillo (Bea Alonzo).

"It takes a village para ganun po 'yung character ni Basil," he said in a report on "24 Oras," Monday, crediting the writers of the show for spicing up the role.

"I really do enjoy my time playing him," he added.

Bea is also all praises for Benjamin.

"He's very professional. When he gets to the set he knows his lines. Ang galing niyang magtahi ng emotions niya and it's very interesting because he has so much control," she said.

Directed by Zig Dulay, "Widows' War" is a spinoff of Kapuso murder-mystery series "Widows' Web" and "Royal Blood."

Also starring Jean Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, Juancho Triviño, Rita Daniela, Jackie Lou Blanco, Timmy Cruz, Royce Cabrera, Matthew Uy, and more, the series airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8:50 p.m. after "Black Rider."
