'Balota' starring Marian Rivera drops official trailer
The official trailer for Cinemalaya film "Balota" starring Marian Rivera is now here!
The 30-second video opens with content creators Sassa Gurl and Esnyr jeering each other while riding floats, and then cuts to the Kapuso Primetime Queen heading to the forest with a ballot box.
It shows the contrast between the party atmosphere of the people and the election violence erupting in the outskirts of town.
Previously, "Balota" released a 15-second teaser showing Marian protecting the ballot box as gun shots can be heard in the background. Marian also shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set.
The film also released a deglamorized photo of Marian for her role as Emmy, a teacher who serves in the election. She is also shown in the official poster.
"Balota" is written and directed by Kip Oebanda, the filmmaker behind "Liway," and "Bar Boys." It is co-produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Entertainment Group.
Aside from Marian, Sassa, and Esnyr, it also stars Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, Raheel Bhyria, Nico Antonio, Donna Cariaga, Joel Saracho, Sue Prado, Mae Paner, and Gardo Verzosa.
"Balota" follows a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town.
The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival will run from August 2 to 11 this year.
