Korean footballer Yi Young Park shares alleged pickpocketing experience in BGC
Korean footballer Yi Young Park allegedly got pickpocketed at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig.
In an Instagram post, the athlete said that he was walking on the street and "six women were surrounding me for quite a long time."
"Three people were in front of me, blocking my path to prevent me from walking quickly, and others were close behind me," he said.
When he felt something strange, he checked his bag immediately but "it was too late."
He said that they had stolen his wallet, and then dispersed in three groups in different directions.
"So I could only chase one group. I caught up with a group and asked for my wallet back. They started making loud noises, asking me if I was crazy, saying ‘we didn't take your wallet’, and getting angry and overacting. It became clearer that they had stolen it. I asked the nearby guard for help to stop them because they had stolen my wallet, but the guard could not provide any help," he said.
"I kept chasing. When we reached a place with few people, one of the accomplices told to another ‘just give his wallet back and let’s leave’ and I got my wallet back. After checking all the IDs and cards in my wallet, I started taking videos to leave evidence. Unfortunately, I was not able to check my cash inside of my wallet at that time, so some cash is still missing,” he added.
According to Park, police arrived following the incident, and he left his contact details with them.
"I hope that you all remain alert and careful so that something like this never happens again. Be safe, everyone.," he said.
