Dingdong Dantes is proud 'Amazing Earth' inspires people to care for environment

"Amazing Earth" is set to celebrate its sixth anniversary this July — and its host, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, couldn't be prouder of the top infotainment show.

According to Lhar Santiago's report in "24 Oras," Thursday, Dingdong is proud and happy that the show helps in raising awareness and encouraging other people to care for the environment and the planet.

"Mas ramdam natin 'yung epekto ng climate change. Kasi talaga naaapektuhan na talaga tayo," he said. "And I think, as a team, kahit maliit lang po kami, we do our best para maghatid ng entertaining at informative na show every week."

The show has also left a mark on his own kids, Zia and Sixto. Per the actor, they enjoy watching "Amazing Earth" and learning about the animal kingdom and nature.

"Mas naiintindihan nila 'yung nature, 'yung beauty ng ating kalikasan at ating kapaligiran. Mahalaga kasi na at a very young age nauunawaan nila 'yan eh, para mas magiging solid ang appreciation nila sa lahat ng bagay."

As "Amazing Earth" turns six, Dingdong said that viewers can expect extreme adventures that showcase the beauty of the Philippine islands, including the first underwater adventure in the series.

In last year's anniversary of the show, Dingdong shared that "Amazing Earth" helps him discover something about the world, one episode at a time. He also said that being a host of the show "helps me grow as a citizen of this world."

Aside from his work in acting, Dingdong is also an environmental advocate. In December 2020, he joined Atom Araullo, Kim Atienza, Climate Change Commissioner Rachel Herrera, and other environmental champions to talk about climate change.

It can be remembered that in 2015, when he was still the National Youth Commission's (NYC) Commissioner-at-Large, Dingdong also delivered a moving speech at the Paris Climate Change Conference's Climate Vulnerable Forum. He was joined by the late former President Benigno Aquino III and other NYC officials.
