Carla Abellana reacts to fan's quip about 'Widow's War' having separated leads

Carla Abellana just laughed off a joke from a netizen about her upcoming series with Bea Alonzo, "Widow's War."

In GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired on "24 Oras," Tuesday, the reporter asked the actress to react to a fan's observation that while the series is about widows, its lead stars are both separated from their partners.

Carla got divorced from Tom Rodriguez, whom she married in 2021, while Bea called off her wedding with Dominic Roque earlier this year.

Asked if she is offended by that quip, Carla said no.

"Actually natatawa pa nga ako about it," she said. "Kasi what are the odds? My gosh, kita mo nga naman 'di ba, 'di naman planado 'yun, di naman ginusto 'yun, nataon lang."

"Parang feeling ko si God lang naman 'yung makakabuo ng ganyang plot twist na 'di ba, what are odds? Oo nga 'no, pareho tayo. We have a lot in common ah," she added.

In the series, Carla and Bea play former best friends Georgina and Samantha. They both lose their husbands and become sworn enemies as they search for justice for their loved ones.

"Widow's War" is a spinoff of "Widow's Web" and "Royal Blood." Directed by Zig Dulay, it will premiere on GMA Prime on July 1.
