Sheena Palad issues public apology for 'TiktoClock' performance with Rica Maer: 'I went overboard'
Sheena Palad took to social media to issue a public apology to her fellow singer, Rica Maer, after receiving criticism for her actions in their recent “TiktoClock” performance.
“This is Sheena Palad at gusto ko pong magbigay ng public apology kay Rica Maer for offending her sa Beat My Birit segment sa Tiktoclock,” she said in a statement.
According to Sheena, Beat My Birit is a segment described as “Bardagulan at Biritan,” and later on, she realized that she “went overboard at nasaktan ko po si Rica.”
Sheena said that she immediately apologized to Rica after the segment and even the night after the performance.
“Maayos po kami ni Rica ngayon at napatawad nya na po ako sa mga pangyayari. Naguusap din po kami and she is assuring me that she is okay,” she said.
She also apologized to the netizens who were offended and called her out.
“Sana po ay mapatawad nyo din po ako sa aking ginawa. Nasaktan ko din po kayo kasama na din ang pamilya ni Rica, sa fiance po niya, sa mga kaibigan at mga sumusuporta po sa kanya,” she said.
“Nakipagusap na din po ako sa mga bumubuo ng Tiktoclock at gusto ko din po gamitin ang pagkakataon na ito na humingi ng tawad sa aming mga bosses, sa director, sa mga hosts at staff sa aking actions,” she added.
In the episode that aired last Wednesday, Sheena and Rica shared the stage, taking turns doing fierce performances.
Clips from the segment have been making rounds online, with users calling out Sheena for “disrespecting” Rica when she hit her head and pulled her hair.
“Disrespecting and verbally harrassing another artist while butchering a Mariah Carey song? The audacity. She doesn't even have the musicality to pull off this song and then starts acting like a bully,” a user commented.
“Sobrang disrespectful ginawa ni Ms. Sheena Palad sa kababayan naming si Ms. Rica Maer. Kung biritan lang dapat birit lang bakit may kasama batok ng ulo, hatak ng kamay, sabunotan ng buhok, at hatakin ang paa ni Ms. Rica. Very unprofessional ang ginawa ni Ms. Sheena kay Ms. Rica,” another user said.
