Ogie Diaz files counter-affidavit on Bea Alonzo's cyber libel complaint against him
Ogie Diaz has filed a counter-affidavit on the cyber libel complaint filed against him by Bea Alonzo.
In a press statement, Diaz's lawyer Regie Tongol said the talent manager filed a counter-charge for perjury with damages against Alonzo at the Regional Trial Court in Quezon City on Tuesday.
“In our seventy-page (70) Counter-Affidavit, we called out the Complainant by not clearly stating in her sixteen-page (16) Complaint-Affidavit the specific individuals who ultered the specific defamatory statements making it appear it was all Mr. Diaz who made them,” Tongol said.
“They even failed to show clear and comincing proof of ‘actual malice’ whether in the form of ‘reckless disregard for the truth’ or ill-motive which is a legal requirement and standard if the Complainant is a public figure,” he added.
In May, the Kapuso actress filed three separate criminal cases for cyber libel against Diaz and Cristy Fermin, along with their co-hosts in their respective online programs.
In the same month, Ogie responded to the cyber libel case and said he would address it at the right time.
“Tulad ng lagi naming hinihirit sa ‘Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update,’ sila pa rin ang gusto naming magkatuluyan sa ending,” Ogie said, referring to Bea and her former fiancé, Dominic Roque.
Bea and Dominic began dating in January 2021. They got engaged in July 2023 and were supposed to get married this year.
After rumors of their breakup began spreading, Boy Abunda announced their separation on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" back in February. The couple then issued their own statement confirming their split.
