Barbie Forteza says 'Pulang Araw' character Adelina is a strong and courageous woman
Barbie Forteza is all praises for her character in "Pulang Araw."
The Kapuso Primetime Princess plays Adelina, a vaudeville star. She is the younger sister of Teresita (Sanya Lopez) and Eduardo (Alden Richards), and the love interest of Hiroshi (David Licauco).
In an interview with GMA News Online during a set visit to Sampaloc, Manila, Barbie shared some hints about Adelina, who "has to be" strong and courageous according to her.
"She's not privileged. 'Di siya mayaman, so she really learned how to stand on her own two feet at a very young age. So she has to be strong," Barbie said.
Barbie added that these qualities are what make Adelina stand out as a character.
"She shines more brightly because she carries the weight of all the rest of the characters, from the Borromeo family to my brother Eduardo, and my love for Hiroshi. Parang, lahat 'yon, pinagdadaanan ni Adelina all at the same time while fighting for her country," the actress said.
"Pulang Araw" traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends: Adelina (Barbie), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards).
As war ravages their homeland and Japanese forces occupy the Philippines, their dreams, friendships, and loyalties are tested, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.
More cast members include Dennis Trillo in his first major kontrabida role, as well as Rhian Ramos.
"Pulang Araw," is coming to Netflix on July 26 and GMA Prime beginning July 29.
