Sanya Lopez talks about hilarious sampal moment on 'Pulang Araw'

Sanya Lopez is one of the most in-demand actresses today, with the film “Playtime” now out in theaters, and the series “Pulang Araw” and “Sang’gre” coming out soon.

It may be a challenge for actors to switch between characters especially when filming happens almost simultaneously, and that’s exactly what the First Lady of Primetime experienced.

During GMA News Online's set visit to the “Pulang Araw” set in Sampaloc, Manila, Sanya shared that right after taping for “Playtime,” she had to go to the set of "Pulang Araw."

“May moments ako, nahihirapan talaga ako,” she said with a laugh, and shared that she had a hilarious sampalan moment on “Pulang Araw,” where she plays vaudeville star Teresita.

“May eksena dun na galing ako sa pinapahirapan ako ni Xian Lim, ‘yung mga ganun. May mga eksena na sampalan din,” she added. “And then kinabukasan kasi dire-diretso ako from ‘Playtime,’ straight ako sa taping ng ‘Pulang Araw.’”

She said that the slap scene required her to have a composed reaction, as befitting her character.

“’Yung sa akin, ‘Ahhh!’” she screamed. “Nawala ako sa character ko, nakakahiya!”

Although Sanya said “naging action 'yung eksena,” the production team said it still fit the story.

“Pero go naman nila kasi hindi rin ako nag-cut eh, so kung ano ‘yung naramdaman ko that time, ‘yun na ‘yun,” Sanya added. “Pero dapat kasi pag susyal kang sinampal, dapat walang imik eh diba.”

Sanya said that though it can be confusing sometimes, she remains very grateful to do what she loves.

“Nakakalito rin minsan kasi oras lang eh. Parang ligo lang kasi ‘yung oras mo, konting idlip sa biyahe tas tape na,” she said. “Pero I’m happy. As long as nag-e-enjoy ka sa ginagawa mo, parang di mo siya mapapansin na ganito pala ‘yung nangyayari sa ‘kin. Pero hindi, nage-e-enjoy ka.”

Pulang Araw” traces the intertwined lives of four childhood friends: Adelina (Barbie), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David), and Eduardo (Alden Richards). As war ravages their homeland and Japanese forces occupy the Philippines, their dreams, friendships, and loyalties are tested, leading them on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.

More cast members include Dennis Trillo in his first major kontrabida role, as well as Rhian Ramos.
