Niño Muhlach’s son Sandro on not using family name in Sparkle audition: ‘Gusto ko lang on my own talents’

Despite coming from an illustrious showbiz family, Niño Muhlach’s eldest son Sandro made sure to carve it out in the industry on his own.

On Monday’s episode of “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” the Sparkle actor shared how he did not use the Muhlach family name when he auditioned in Sparkle. 

“I think mas gusto ko po ‘yong thrill na I'm on my own," Sandro told Tito Boy.

"Ayoko po gamitin na porket Muhlach ako, parang nepotism na po agad. I don't want that,” he added, saying he wanted to be able the show business industry "on my own talents."

Having successfully passed his auditions, Sandro is now comfortable in using his father's family name.

Sandro has appeared in several Kapuso shows including “Agimat ng Agila,” Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento: Dagsag Sahod Salcedo,” “Mano po Legacy: The Flower Sisters,” and “Black Rider.”

Sandro is the son of Niño to his ex-wife Edith Millare. His half-brother Alonzo — Niño's son with wife Diane Tupaz — is also in showbiz and the three appeared on "Fast Talk" Monday afternoon.

During the interview, Niño also explained by he sold his FAMAS trophy to Boss Toyo.
