'Planet of the Apes' star Kevin Durand bursts into Francis M.'s 'Mga Kababayan' mid-interview
Francis M. has truly gone far and wide — just watch the video of radio DJs Gino Quillamor and Chicco Garcia interviewing "Planet of the Apes" stars Kevin Durand and Peter Macon.
Quillamor posted the video on Instagram, where Kevin Durand talked about his best friend from Mindanao.
"We grew up together and we would listen to Francis M.," the Canadian actor narrated, eliciting a response from the Filipino DJs.
Prompted by Quillamor and Garcia's surprised reactions, Durand gamely went on rapping a few lines of the famed Francis M. song: "Mga kababayan ko! Ako ay Pilipino!"
"Whenever I speak to people from the Philippines, or people who live here who are from the Philippines it just feels so at home with you guys. I wanna go to your mom's house and eat some delicious food," he continued.
Quillamor thanked Durand for sharing his Philippine connection and when he said "we're friends with Francis M.'s kids so we'll let them know," it was Durand's turn to be surprised and impressed by the information.
"No way?! Oh my God," Durand said. "Please, please tell them Proximus sends love," he added, referencing his character in the movie.
Francis M., also known as the Master Rapper, is among the most famous Filipino hip-hop figures. He rose to fame in the 90s with his songs, including "Man from Manila," Kaleidescope World," "Ito ang Gusto Ko!" and of course, "Mga Kababayan!"
