Dingdong Dantes reveals which of his TV characters is most like him in real life

With a career spanning over 20 years, Dingdong Dantes has played various characters in the numerous movies and TV series he's done.

On the sidelines of his renewal of contract with GMA Network, the Kapuso Primetime King said it is the character of Iñaki Torres from the '90s youth-oriented show “T.G.I.S” that resonates with him the most.

“Only because parang basic lang naman siya na teenager na makulit. Ganon din naman dati na walang direksyon. Gusto lang magpa-cute palagi sa mga chicks. Yung mga ganong bagay. ‘Yon lang naman yon,” Dingdong told GMA News Online during the sidelines of his contract renewal with the Kapuso Network on Thursday.

[Only because he was a basic teenager. I was like that before, seemingly without direction. I just wanted to charm girls, stuff like that.]

“But everything else, all other roles, may konting trait na medyo ako. So kung hindi man entirely may konting trait ng character na ito na medyo similar sa akin,” he added.

Dingdong shot to popularity in the '90s for portraying the charmismatic and confident 'Iñaki Torres, the younger cousin of Bobby Andrews' Joaquin "Wacks" Torres III, in “T.G.I.S."

When the Kapuso actor renewed his ties with GMA Network on Thursday, he couldn't help but tear up at the congratulatory messages he received from GMA executives.

"Sa aking mga boss, maraming maraming salamat," Dingdong said. "Thank you po for those kind words, I truly appreciate them."

He also expressed appreciation for the relationships he established along the way, particularly with the production crews, the staff on set, and his co-actors, saying that they made his every chapter in GMA memorable.

Dingdong's first show in GMA, since then, he's starred in several Kapuso series such as “Encantadia,” “Alyas Robinhood,” and “Dyesebel” to name a few.

He also top-billed some award-winning movies, most recently “Rewind.”

He hosts "Amazing Earth" and "Family Feud."
