Diana Zubiri marks 19 years since 'Encantadia' premiere with throwback pics

Diana Zubiri-Smith took fans on a trip down memory lane as she celebrated 19 years since the premiere of the original “Encantadia.”

On Instagram, the OG Danaya posted behind-the-scenes photos from the cast and crew’s time on set, showing the actors posing in their costumes, getting directions, as well as their official photos.

“[Nineteen years] na pala since sumalang ako sa unang Teleserye,” Diana said in her caption. “Maraming Salamat dahil dito nakilala si Danaya hanggang ngayon.”

“Avisala Eshma Encantadia,” the actress added.

Iza Calzado, who played the original Amihan, said in the comments section, “Love you!!! Love us!!!!”

The first episode of “Encantadia” premiered on May 2, 2005, and has since been a Filipino pop culture phenomenon with its own universe and language. The story follows four strong Sang’gres who represent each element and fight to protect their kingdom.

Diana, Iza, Karylle, and Sunshine Dizon, the original Sang’gres, reunited on “It’s Showtime” in 2023 for Karylle’s Magpasikat performance. They previously reunited for the fantasy film “Mystified,” released in 2019.

“Encantadia” was remade and aired on GMA-7 in 2016.

The original stars also sent their heartfelt messages to the cast of “Encantadia’s” upcoming spin-off series, “Sang’gre.”

“Sang’gre” will feature a new generation of diwatas. It stars Bianca Umali as Terra, the new keeper of the Brilyante ng Lupa; Faith Da Silva as Flamarra, keeper of the Brilyante ng Apoy; Kelvin Miranda as Adamus, the new protector of the Brilyante ng Tubig; and Angel Guardian as Deia, the keeper of the Brilyante ng Hangin.

Rhian Ramos is also joining the series as Mitena, Cassiopeia's twin. Stars from the 2016 remake such as Glaiza De Castro as Pirena and Rocco Nacino as Aquil are also part of the series.
