How does Paolo Valenciano direct his dad Gary V?

How does Paolo Valenciano direct his dad Gary V?

Gary Valenciano’s son Paolo will once again play the role of director at his dad’s upcoming concert on Friday.

But how does Paolo direct his dad?

On Monday’s episode of “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” Mr. Pure Energy shared there have been times when he and Paolo don't agree with each other’s decisions.

When it comes to every decision, Gary has the final say.

“Paolo’s the one that tells me that ‘Dad, I’m the director, but it’s your show. People are coming to see you. So you have to tell me are you okay with this or not,’” the veteran artist said, adding that they “never argue.”

“Hindi ganon. It’s always, sometimes we just laugh, then we compromise and come up with something,” he added.

Gary also clarified the concert was not a goodbye show but rather a “transition” in his career.

“It’s time to transition into what I believe is a higher calling with regard to the talent na naibigay sa akin and that’s really to inspire more people now than more than ever before,” he said.

Gary will have a three-night concert on April 26 to 27 and May 10 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. These will be the final shows in celebration of his 40th anniversary in entertainment.

He is set to perform his top hits like “Di Bale Na lang,” “Di Na Natuto,” “Shout For Joy,” “Sana Maulit Muli,” and “Take Me Out of the Dark,” among many others.

Despite his various health challenges such as living with type-1 diabetes, undergoing bypass surgery, and surviving kidney cancer, Gary V. remains Mr. Pure Energy. In fact, he even had his 100th concert at the Music Museum in October last year, which was also directed by his son Paolo.

Gary V. made a memorable appearance at the Eraserheads reunion concert in 2022, where he performed “Christmas Party” with the band.
