Following Cassy's cryptic posts, Darren admits texting her: 'If you're mad at me, or if I did anything wrong, please tell me'

First thing's first: Nothing's wrong between Darren and Cassy Legaspi. They are really just best friends!

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" Monday, the singer looked back on both their recent actions and shared his suspicion which of those might have had netizens wondering if anything was wrong.   

According to Darren, he had a recent interview where he said Cassy was his best friend. "People kind of misunderstood the whole situation," he said.

"After that interview, there were some IG stories from Tita Carmina (Villarroel) and Cass and they [netizens] kind of stitched it together," he continued.

The King of Talk specified some of the cryptic posts from the mother and daughter — "Hurt people hurt people," lyrics to Olivia Rodrigo's song, "Perfect Crime," to name a few.

Darren said he knew his Tita Carmina liked posting motivational quotes and bible verses on her Instagram Stories, while Cassy often posts lyrics of her favorite songs.

"That's something I clarified with her. [I told her], 'If your mad a me, if I did anything wrong, please tell me," Darren continued, adding Cassy flat-out told him "she doesn't have any ill feelings together me — she and her family."

"Ganun naman po kami. We would never try to beat around the bush," Darren said.

He clarified they didn't have a fight, that in fact they've always been friends, and that actually, they became closer in the pandemic. 

But while he confirmed they are still best friends, Darren begged off giving any more details of their friendship. "The rest of the details, sa amin na lang po," he said. 

Eyebrows were raised during the premiere of "It's Showtime" on GMA-7 earlier this month when Darren said he had no girlfriend at the moment.

Quickly, Cassy responded saying they were just best friends.

Cassy and Darren have long been the subject of dating rumors. They attended the GMA Gala and ABS-CBN Ball, and had also traveled to Batangas, Japan, and California together.

In the same "Fast Talk" interview, Darren admitted to dating Kylie Alcantara in the past.
