Darren Espanto admits dating Kyline Alcantara in the past

Darren Espanto has admitted that he dated Kyline Alcantara in the past.

On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the Filipino-Canadian singer and actor got real on his past relationship with the Sparkle star.

He said that what they had was a "puppy love kind of thing."

"Kasi nga nagging kami dati. Kaya binibiro kami ni Ate Vice," Darren said, referring to the time when Vice Ganda teased him and Kyline during the latter's guesting in the April 10 episode of "It's Showtime."

During Kyline's guesting, "It's Showtime" host Kim Chiu teased the pair and said, "Ang galing pala ni Kyline talaga."

Kyline responded, "Alam n'yo po kung bakit? Kasi nga..." she said before turning to face Darren.

The train of thought was never revealed.

Jhong Hilario then teased them, calling them "DarLine."

According to Darren, he and Kyline dated for a year and were very comfortable with each other until they decided to part ways because of "some misunderstanding."

"There was some misunderstanding. Kasi siyempre pag mga bata parang konting mga petty na away," he said. "Then when we both matured, six years later napag-usapan na namin. Ayun po, eventually we became OK with each other again and naging friends na ulit."

The Kapamilya singer and actor was previously linked to Cassy Legaspi, but on the premiere episode of "It's Showtime" on GMA-7 on April 6, Darren said he didn't have a girlfriend. Both of them said they are only best friends.

Meanwhile, Kyline was linked to Cassy's twin, Mavy, who said he has no problem with the actress getting teased with Darren.

Kyline is set to star in the upcoming Kapuso adaptation of Korean drama "Shining Inheritance."
