Ronnie Ricketts reveals Dolphy's hand in his career

Ronnie Ricketts is among the most popular action stars of the '90s and that's all thanks to Dolphy.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Ronnie shared how it was the King of Philippine Comedy who discovered his knack for action.

"Actually, Tito Dolphy was the one who discovered me sa action movies," Ronnie began. "Nakita niya routine ko. Sabi niya, 'bigyan mo ng routine yung bata.' So nag-exhibition ako ngayon, Karate. Duon eko na-discover ni Tito Dolphy."

But Ronnie actually started as a model. The King of Talk recalled how Ronnie was among the top models back in the day. During the interview, the actor talked about walking the runways set up in big hotels like Hyatt, Manila Hotel, and Silahis.

"Yun ang buhay ko nu'n, rampa-rampa," he said.

He made his way into show business, first starring in "glamor" roles — "mga love teams," he said — also through Dolphy's production house RVQ, before finally making his mark as an action star.

Apart from showbusiness, Ronnie is also a well-known martial artist. On his Instagram account, he would often post videos on his training and workout, often with his wife Mariz who was with him on "Fast Talk" Wednesday.

On Thursday's episode, the married couple talked about various topics including their long-lasting marriage.
