Derrick Monasterio when teased by ‘It’s Showtime’ hosts to guest on ‘EXpecially For You:’ ‘Ay, may girlfriend po ako eh’
Derrick Monasterio is no longer searching for love.
The Kapuso actor appeared on Tuesday’s episode of “It’s Showtime” for the first time, performing John Legend’s “P.D.A. (We Just Don’t Care)” and joining the hosts for the theme song.
Derrick interacted with the hosts and said he even participated in ABS-CBN acting workshops when he was a teen.
Asked how it feels to be on “It’s Showtime,” Derrick said, “Grabe, parang panaginip kasi honestly dati, pinapanood ko din talaga ‘yung ‘Showtime’ lalo na pag lumalabas sa Facebook.” The “Makiling” star even had a favorite segment: “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”
Following this, Vhong Navarro asked Derrick about possibly appearing on “EXpecially For You.”
When he gave an agreeable, “pwede,” Vice Ganda asked if he is single.
“Ay, may girlfriend po ako eh,” Derrick said.
Vice teased Derrick, “Pwede ba kayo maghiwalay kahit one day lang para ‘EXpecially For You’ for guesting lang tapos magbalikan kayo after the episode?”
The actor took this time to thank the supporters of “Makiling” for making it the top afternoon revenge drama series.
“Nakakatuwa kasi hindi namin ‘to in-e-expect. And of course, pinagbibidahan namin niyan namin ng aking real-life loveteam at real-life partner, si Ms. Elle Villanueva,” Derrick said.
“Nanonood ‘yan ngayon, hi Jammy,” he added with a wave.
On Instagram, Derrick posted about his "It's Showtime" guesting, which quickly earned a comment from Elle.
"U were so good," his girlfriend said.
Derrick and Elle revealed their relationship in August 2023, following a courtship and “no-label relationship.”
“EXpecially For You” is a popular segment on “It’s Showtime” wherein searchers would look for a new partner with their ex present.
Michelle Dee was the guest on the noontime show’s debut episode on GMA-7, where she matched with Cebuano lawyer Oliver Moeller.
“It’s Showtime” premiered on GMA-7 on April 6. The noontime show had an epic opening number which also served as Vice Ganda’s birthday prod, and had trending moments.
“It’s Showtime” is also aired on GMA Network’s GTV.
