'Rest well Killua': 'Sang'gre' director Mark Reyes dedicates scene to slain dog
"Sang'gre director" Mark Reyes is among the many fur parents who are mourning the death of Killua, the Labrador Retriever beaten to death by a neighbor in Camarines Sur.
On Instagram, Direk Mark said the "Encantadia" spinoff is dedicating a scene they recently worked on to the slain dog.
The director shared a collage of photos showing "Sang'gre" star Bianca Umali, who plays Danaya's daughter Terra, celebrating a fur baby's birthday with her family in the series.
"Since 2006, the world of Encantadia always included animal actors. For Sanggre, we have a cute black Guinea Pig named 'Hamham' and a dog character named 'Kai-2' played by adorable Labrador Retriever 'Levi,'" he wrote in the caption.
"While shooting this 'birthday scene,' I can't help but remember the now famous picture of 'Killua.' So allow us to dedicate this moment to him. Rest well #Killua. Enjoy all your birthdays up there in heaven."
"Sang'gre" cast members Manilyn Reyes and Boboy Garrovillo are with Bianca in the scene.
The hashtag #JusticeforKilua, which Direk Mark used in his post, has been trending on X for days after the death of the dog.
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and Killua's owner Vina Rachelle Arazas are preparing to file charges against the man who killed the dog for violating the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.
Senators Grace Poe and JV Ejercito also condemned the killing.
