Tom Rodriguez returns to acting with 'Magpakailanman' episode
Tom Rodriguez is making his acting comeback with an episode of “Magpakailanman,”airing on Saturday night.
This is the Kapuso actor’s first project in two years after taking a break from showbiz and living in the US.
Tom will portray his “Mulawin VS Ravena” co-star Bryan Benedict, who dreamed of becoming an actor but had to sacrifice this to take care of his parents who are persons with disabilities, according to GMA Entertainment.
Tom told GMA Entertainment that he felt like he was back to square one.
"Nakakapanibago. Parang back to zero. Parang kindergarten uli 'yung mga ilaw, camera, lights. All I tried to do was really immerse myself in the role pero at the same time I couldn't help but feel those nerves," he said.
On his Instagram account, Tom also said he was nervous to get back to acting.
“I admit, kinabahan ako returning to acting, pero I hope maiparating ko ng maayos ang importanteng kuwento ni Bryan Benedict,” Tom said.
“Ang laki ng pasasalamat ko na makabalik sa pag-arte with ‘A Mother To Remember’ sa #Magpakailanman after two years. This story is close to my heart, at excited ako na ibahagi ito sa inyo," he added. “Sobrang thankful ako sa inyong support at pagmamahal."
“Magpakailanman” airs at 8:15 p.m. on Saturdays on GMA Network.
Tom returned to the Philippines in January after living in Arizona for two years, following his divorce from Carla Abellana. While there, he said he took the time to recover.
Tom and Carla had been in a relationship for seven years before getting married in October 2021. They were surrounded by breakup rumors just three months after their wedding.
Earlier, Tom revealed that he is already seeing someone new but wants to keep the identity to himself.
Carla said in an interview that it would be okay if they were to see each other again.
Tom last appeared in the 2021 GMA primetime series "The World Between Us," starring Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
