Gina Alajar, Alden Richards, other Kapuso stars gather at Jaclyn Jose’s wake

Jaclyn Jose’s friends from GMA Network gathered on Friday evening to remember the late veteran actress’ great memories and the legacy she left in the entertainment industry.

Director Gina Alajar started her eulogy by reading a poem titled “Iba’t-ibang Haba ng Panahon,” a piece that talks about how short one’s life is.

“Alam niyo, marami sa ating nagulat sa nangyari at isa na ako doon. No one expected na ganito pala kaaga na mawawala siya kaya lahat tayo na-surprise,” she said, adding that it was only God who was not surprised.

“Alam na ng Panginoong Diyos kung ano ang mangyayari sa kaniya,” the director said.

She ended her speech by saying, “Thank you very much, Jane. Kita-kita tayo ha? I love you.”

Andrea Torres was also present and remembered her “Nanay” Jaclyn as a good listener.

“Mami-miss ko siya kausap. Ang sarap-sarap niyang ka-kuwentuhan. Parang feeling ko lagi siyang interesado sa sinasabi ko,” she said. “Nako, bigla ‘yang tatawag. Kapag may nababalitaan siya sa 'kin.”

“‘Yun ‘yung magic ni nanay. Iiwan ka niya na magaan ang pakiramdam mo at masaya ka,” the actress said.

Director Dominic Zapata brought laughter to the room when he recalled one of the first times that he had worked with Jaclyn, reenacting her acting style and mannerisms.

He also remembered Jaclyn as an honest person.

“That is why she’s so good at what she does because there's so much truth, there's so much honesty, there's so much sincerity in her acting,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alden Richards couldn’t help but turn emotional as he explained why he did not prepare a script for his eulogy.

“I think one of the reasons why I didn't prepare any speech was to show po na kung gaano po ako hindi ka-ready sa pag-alis ni Tita Jane,” he said, remembering Jaclyn as someone who loves unconditionally.

“I feel your pain, Andi, and sa mga naiwan po ni Tita Jane. I feel it,” he said. “Kasi nanay ko rin ‘yan. So parang ang dating, ‘yung nararamdaman ko po ngayon is the same feeling I felt when my Mom left us. Parang bumalik.”

The network also gave a plaque of sympathy to Jaclyn's family. It was handed over by GMA Entertainment SVP Lilybeth G. Rasonable.

Other stars also present were Dingdong Dantes, Kylie Padilla, Barbie Forteza, Jak Roberto, Angelu De Leon, Gladys Reyes, Ina Faleo, and more.

Jaclyn, born Mary Jane Guck, died on March 2 at 60 years old. Andi revealed that she died due to a heart attack.

Jaclyn’s death was first announced by her agency, PPL Entertainment. Her family, through the Philippine National Police, also previously said that there was no foul play involved.

Some of her notable performances include starring and supporting roles in films such as "The Flor Contemplacion Story" and "Patay Na Si Hesus.” She also starred in several GMA Network series, including "Marimar," "The Millionaire's Wife," and "D'Originals." — BAP, GMA Integrated News
