Carousell suspends sale of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert tickets amid rise in scams
Carousell has suspended the sale of tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert amid the "rise in ticket scams."
In a statement, the online marketplace said that tickets were removed from listings starting February 23, and sales will be suspended until March 9, once Swift's Singapore stop concludes.
The Eras Tour will kick off in Singapore on March 2. It is the only Southeast Asian stop in the tour.
Countries affected by Carousell's move include the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
"We are working very closely with the Singapore Police Force to vigilantly monitor the situation and take action against scammers," Carousell added.
Just recently, over 100 Filipino Swifties lost a total of almost P15 million after being scammed by someone who pretended to be selling Eras Tour concert tickets.
The victims have already sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation and have filed a lawsuit against the scammer, who will face charges of estafa. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
