Marina Summers performs 'AMAFILIPINA' on 'It's Showtime' stage
Hail to our Filipina winnah!
Filipina drag queen Marina Summers is an unstoppable Filipina kween as she performed "AMAFILIPINA" on "It's Showtime" stage on Wednesday.
Marina opened her slayful performance with a grand entrance to the stage belting to the lyrics: "Amafilipina. Filipina Winnah!"
During her performance, she wore a stage outfit that was identical to her costume during the talent show in the first episode of "RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World."
After her performance, she greeted the madlang people in the most Marina way: bending her head backwards before saying "What's up madlang people!!!"
"It's Showtime" host Vhong Navarro then asked Marina on her experience in representing the Philippines in the said drag race competition.
"Honestly, sobrang sarap sa feeling na pupunta ako doon hindi lang as a queer person, but also as a Filipino," she said.
"Ang sarap sa feeling to be the first Filipina drag queen from the Philippines to represent our country in an international stage," Marina added.
Marina also revealed the reason why she choose the to use "Amafilipina," her version of Maymay Entrata's "Amakabogera," for her talent show performance.
"Itong 'Amakabogera' naging gay anthem siya eh. Kapag pinakinggan mo siya, pang-bakla talaga 'yung word. So how would a queer person do it and on an international level?" Marina said.
"I'm very honored to do a rendition of this and to tell everyone that I'm a Filipino—we are Filipinos," she added.
Marina left a statement performance at the talent show of the said drag race competition where she showed off her smooth moves and props that resembled those used in fire dances.
She later went on to win the talent show portion of "RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World," with RuPaul saying she represented the Philippines "beautifully."
Marina became the first recipient of a gold RuPeter Badge.
Following the episode, Marina released the talent show version and an extended version of "AMAFILIPINA" on Spotify.
She is the only Asian representative in the season. She is also the first drag queen to represent the Philippines in an international edition of the Emmy Award-winning original series.
The winner of "Drag Race UK vs The World" will win 50,000 pounds.
