Alden Richards admits his role in 'Pulang Araw' is challenging: 'Ang hirap kasi nung salita'
Following the success of his movie "Five Breakups and a Romance," Alden Richards is now working on his upcoming series, "Pulang Araw."
In Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Asia's Multimedia Star admitted that the project has been challenging for him, as it is set in World War II.
Alden will be playing the character of Eduardo, who is half American.
"Ang hirap kasi nung salita. Napakahirap nung mga salitang binibigkas noong araw dahil hindi 'yun ang kasalukuyang salitang ginagamit natin sa pang-araw-araw," he said.
"Malalim tsaka may shortness of breath eh. Mahangin 'yung malalim na salitang Tagalog nung araw pero masarap siya gawin," he added.
The Sparkle actor said he is happy to bring to life an era of history witnessed by his grandparents.
"Ito 'yung pagma-materialize kasi ng kwento ng lola ko noong bata ako because my grandparents are World War 2 babies and we are at the setting of the Japanese occupation dito sa Pilipinas, so napakahirap ng buhay noon," Alden said.
"We owe a huge debt of gratitude dito sa mga taong nakipaglaban para sa kalayaan ng Pilipinas during those moments."
"Pulang Araw" will also star Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, and David Licauco. More actors include Angelu De Leon, Epy Quizon, Rochelle Pangilinan, and Aidan Veneracion, among others.
Barbie will play the role of Adelina, the half-sister of Alden's character.
Earlier, Barbie and Sanya shared that they were taking tap dancing lessons in preparation for the project.
