Boy Abunda on Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque's breakup statement: ‘I’m choosing to shut up’

On Sunday, Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque confirmed what Boy Abunda had earlier said: That they had broken up.

In their joint statement, they explained it wasn't an easy decision, asked for privacy, and expressed disappointment in other people for breaking the news "without our consent." 

A lot of netizens assumed the couple were alluding to the King of Talk, who broke the news last week, and at the sidelines of his contract renewal with GMA Network on Monday, Tito Boy was asked what he thought of the couple's statement.

“There’s a time to speak and a time to shut up," Tito Boy began. "Right at this moment, I’m choosing to shut up — but not for long."

The veteran host acknowledged there is “so much pain being experienced by the parties involved,” and it deserves much “respect.” 

Tito Boy confirmed Bea and Dom's breakup on Thursday's episode of "Fast Talk."

He was also able to quickly remind the public that speculations are dangerous and asked them to be a little kinder with their words, before Bea and Dom could issue their statement, which they did on Sunday.

Bea and Dominic began dating in January 2021. The Kapuso actress confirmed their relationship in August that year.

The couple got engaged in July and planned to get married this year.

Meanwhile, Boy renewed his contract with GMA Network on Monday and vowed to continue doing his show with "gratitude and love."
