Jiro Manio on volunteering for a rehab center: 'Kami po 'yung nagbibigay ng inspiration'

It's no secret that Jiro Manio succumbed to vices when he was younger. This phase of his life has become a driving force, leading him to work as a volunteer for a rehabilitation center in Bataan.

In Friday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” he shared his experience as a volunteer staff.

“Isa ako sa volunteer staff doon na nagbibigay ng testimony lalo na kapag may special events po like drug abuse, prevention and control, mga patungkol po sa pag-iwas sa masasamang bisyo. Kami po ‘yung nagbibigay ng inspiration and ‘yung nagga-guide po sa mga residente na bagong pasok,” he said.

When giving his testimony to others, Jiro admits he draws from personal experience and shares the story of his life.

“Kung paano ako magsimula mag-bisyo, hanggang sa napa-bisyo, may mga tropang kasama tapos anong naging desisyon ko kung bakit ako pumasok sa rehab and ano ‘yung feedback sa akin hanggang sa nagbago,” the Magnifico actor added.

Despite this dark phase in his life, the former actor said that he’s not blaming showbiz and other people on why he started doing vices.

“Sarili ko po ‘yung nagka-problema. Wala po kasi akong sinisisi ever since na kahit na family ko po, minsan nag-aaway kami, wala po akong naisumbat sa kanila,” Jiro said.

When asked by Tito Boy if he has lessons he wants to impart to young people today on how to avoid bad habits and vices, Jiro said it’s important to prioritize one’s health and the relationship you have with your family.

“Syempre po ‘yung kalusugan natin pinakamahalaga sa buhay natin and ‘yung relationship with the family po. ‘Yung pag-aaral huwag na huwag po natin papabayaan lalong lao na po ‘yung pagdarasal,” he explained.

In the same episode, Jiro also clarified the reason why he brought his Gawad Urian trophy to Boss Toyo of Pinoy Pawnstars which trended online. He received P75,000 for the trophy.

He also revealed getting showbiz offers from time to time but can’t fully commit to returning to showbiz as advised by his doctors.
