Dingdong Dantes concludes 'Rewind' and MMFF experience with a heartfelt Instagram post

After more than P1B in ticket sales and the theatrical extension of the Metro Manila Film Festival entries, including the Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes-led "Rewind," the Kapuso Primetime King took to Instagram to concluded his experience.

Posting snaps from shoot to promo, Dingdong began by sharing what he prayed for when he embarked on "Rewind."

"When we joined the MMFF, my prayer was for the strength to be an effective storyteller, aiming to touch lives, particularly during this holiday season. The other prayer was for the revival of vibrancy in local cinema, a return to its glory days," he wrote.

"Now, as the curtain falls on the MMFF, I extend a salute to the ten films that courageously shared their beautiful stories. These films are destined to be timeless pieces, outliving us all. It’s an honor to be part of the historic 49th MMF," Dingdong said.

Thanking moviegoers and audiences, the Kapuso star also thanked the people behind the scenes — producers, crew, distributors, production teams, organizers, and filmmakers — and gave a special nod to "Team Rewind, led by Direk Mae Cruz-Alviar, the captain of the ship, and my fellow cast members Jordan, Pepe, Tita Coney, Tito Ariel, Tito Lito, Sue, Joross, Pamu, Via, Ina, Chamyto, Majoy, and Neil."

He ended his long list of thank yous to his wife Marian, whom he called his "leading lady on and off camera."

"Telling this story is a gift, and successfully sharing it with millions fulfills a mission. Accomplishing this mission alongside you, my wife is a rare privilege, one that I believe comes once in a lifetime. I am genuinely grateful for this extraordinary experience, forever holding a special place in my heart," Dingdong said.

"Mabuhay ang mga magagaling na filmmakers, at mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino," he wrote before quoting the American author and theologian Frederich Buechner: “The place God calls you to is where your deep gladness and the deep hunger of the world meet.”

The recently concluded MMFF was certainly one for the books as it broke box office with P1.069-billion gross receipts as of January 7. It also extended the run of the 10 entries.

In its Gabi ng Parangal, GMA Pictures' "Firefly" won best picture.
