'Pulang Araw' teaser sets up World War II backdrop of upcoming historical series

The teaser of "Pulang Araw" just hyped up viewers for the upcoming historical series!

The short clip did not feature any of the characters yet, but it sets up the World War II backdrop with a scene showing fighter jets flying over a field and the sound of warning sirens.

"Pag-ibig. Pangarap. Pamilya. Pagkakaibigan. Sa panahon ng digmaan, ano ang handa mong isakripisyo para sa tunay na kalayaan?" the teaser reads.

On X, fans expressed their excitement for the series featuring one of the dark periods in Philippine history.

"Teaser pa lang pero nakakapanindig balahibo na. what more if they give us more crumbs," one user said. "Everyone is seated for a majestic cinematography and thrilling scenes. Can't wait."

"Pulang Araw" is set to star Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards. The cast already attended a story conference.

Barbie and Sanya will play half-sisters Adelina and Teresita, who are bodabil stars. Alden, meanwhile, will play Barbie's half-brother Eduardo, who has American blood.

David will play Hiroshi, a Japanese soldier. He will study the Japanese language for the role.

Other cast members include Epy Quizon, Angelu De Leon, Rochelle Pangilinan, and Aidan Veneracion, among others.

"Pulang Araw" will be directed by Dominic Zapata and the story will be written by Suzette Doctolero.
