Pura Luka Vega celebrates dismissal of 'at least one' case: 'Laban lang'

One of the cases filed against drag artist Pura Luka Vega has been dismissed.

On X (formerly Twitter), Pura shared an excerpt of the resolution saying that the case was dismissed due to a lack of probable cause.

”Very grateful that at least one of all the cases filed against [me] was dismissed. Laban lang,” they said, without elaborating on the details of the case.

According to Rod Singh, Pura Luka Vega’s spokesperson, it was the case in Tacloban City that was dismissed.

Pura is currently facing several complaints from religious groups over their viral "Ama Namin" performance. They were also declared as “person non-grata” in several cities and provinces in the country. Politicians, several known personalities, and regular netizens have aired out their two cents on the controversial performance.

Speaking to GMA News Online, Pura said that their "intent was to embody a version of Christ that is one with the queer audience."

According to Pura, the "Ama Namin" remix wasn't meant to be disrespectful.

In October, the 33-year-old performer was arrested after a group of religious leaders filed a case against them, saying that they violated Revised Penal Code Article 201 and that they attacked the religious beliefs of the devotees.

Following this, Pura filed a motion for bail, including a request to reduce the bail bond, which is pegged at P72,000. They were released from detention shortly after.
