MMDA debunks fake news regarding MMFF 2023 ticket sales

The 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has officially started on December 25, and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has nothing but gratitude for its supporters.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the MMDA thanked everyone who graced the film festival.

“Ang Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) ay labis na ikinatutuwa ang mainit na pagtangkilik ng publiko sa mga pelikulang kalahok sa film festival,” it wrote.

“Nagpapatunay ito na ang bawat 10 film entry ay kahanga-hanga at tunay na de kalidad. Tunay na bumalik na ang sigla ng publiko sa panonood sa mga sinehan,” it added.

The government agency also debunked the fake news circulating online regarding the ticket sales of each MMFF entry.

According to them, the MMFF hasn’t released any ranking or the total amount earned for each movie to avoid influencing viewers' decisions.

They added that the MMFF management aims to provide equal exposure, spotlight, and support to every film.

This year’s MMFF has ten entries including “Firefly” a film by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs.

It stars Euwenn Mikaell, Alessandra De Rossi, Ysabel Ortega, and Miguel Tanfelix among others.

Directed by Zig Dulay, "Firefly" is a coming-of-age road trip drama about TonTon (Euwenn) who searches for the mythical island described in his mother's bedtime stories.
