Regine Velasquez shares original lyric sheet of 'Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw' from Ogie Alcasid
OPM and Pinoy pop culture aficionados, here's something for all of us.
Regine Velasquez on Instagram Monday shared a photo of the original lyric sheet of "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," the hit song she sang, that her husband Ogie Alcasid composed back in 2000.
Visibly turning brown, the paper torn off a three-ringed pad featured the song's lyrics in Ogie's handwriting — complete with deletions, corrections, and a thoughtful note from the songwriter.
"My dearest Regine," he began.
"Here is the original writing of our 'masterpiece.' Take care always my friend," Ogie wrote before signing off with a heart doodle and writing his name.
"Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" is the theme song of the movie with the same name that Regine topbilled with Robin Padilla back in the year 2000.
Ogie reportedly wrote the song in just one day.
Regine and Ogie wouldn't come together until 2010, a solid 10 years after he penned the song.
On Instagram, Regine only captioned the photo, "Kailangan Koy Ikaw."
In the comment section, Ogie replied "Ikaw ang kailangan ko."
Their fellow celebrities could not help but pipe in on the beautiful relic that Regine shared, including Julie Anne San Jose who left multiple hearty-eyed emojis and Anne Curtis who left numerous red heart emojis.
In case you were wondering, the song and the movie are certified hits.
