Angelu de Leon is honored and emotional to be part of 'Pulang Araw'
Angelu De Leon is “[honored] and privileged” to be part of the cast of “Pulang Araw” for a number of reasons.
In an Instagram post with photos from the series’ story conference, Angelu said in her caption that she is thankful to still be doing her passion which is acting.
Another reason would be working with GMA Network again, which she considers as the place where she “practically grew up and “working again with most of the people I enjoyed working with on and off camera in past shows from ‘TGIS’ and other soap operas.”
The veteran actress and Pasig City Councilor added that “Pulang Araw” and “TGIS” director Dominic Zapata gave a heartfelt speech at the storycon that made her cry.
“Yes, most of us were crying na at this point. (First time ko atang umiyak sa isang story conference),” she said. [It was my first time to cry during a story conference.]
Angelu added, “It was more clear to me why God allowed me to be part of this show.”
The actress said that those part of the show are so involved because the setting is World War II in the Philippines.
“Halos lahat kaming involve merong some kind of investment sa show because of our personal stories about WWII. Hindi man namin inabot yun. Pinagdaanan yun ng mga mahal namin sa buhay,” she said.
[Almost all of us involved have some kind of investment in the show because of our personal stories about World War II. Even though we did not experience it ourselves, it was endured by our loved ones.]
For these reasons, Angelu dedicated the show to her family.
“So, to my Mom @floradeleon11, Tita @pam_mld , Tita Zeny, Tita Rose and Uncle Jun who lost their brother because the Japanese bombed the bridge where he was crossing and they never recovered his body,” she said.
“Isa itong pagpupugay, pagtanaw at pasasalamat sa mga unsung heroes nung panahon ng digmaan,” she added.
[This is a tribute, acknowledgment, and expression of gratitude to the unsung heroes during the time of war.]
