Herlene Budol says she wants to play an action role in the future

Following the success of “Magandang Dilag,” Herlene Budol is set to join the cast of the action-packed series “Black Rider!”

In Cata Tibayan’s report on “24 Oras,” Wednesday, Herlene said that she also wants to play an action role in the future.

“Excited po ako dun. Isa po ‘yun sa mga gusto ko din talagang gampanan ‘yung maging action star. Syempre open po ako,” she said.

[I am excited about that. It's one of the roles I really want to portray—to become an action star. Of course, I am open to it.]

In the meantime, on “Black Rider,” she will be playing the role of Pretty.

“Ang dami ko mare-represent na mga kababaihan na parang may pinaglalaban. Kawawa siya pero girl power pa rin. Isa akong manicurista na talagang may asawa, nagmamahal nang sobra pero hindi binabalik ang pagmamahal,” Herlene said.

[I'll be representing a lot of women who seem to be fighting for something. She's pitiful, but it's still girl power. I am a manicurist who has a husband, loves deeply, but the love is not reciprocated.]

The actress teased that her character will have a dramatic story.

“Masaya nung una pero parang may kurot nung huli, hindi siya kurot, parang sinampal ka ng katotohanan sa huli. Parang ‘oo nga ‘no?’ Hindi siya basta-basta kurot kalabit!” she said.

[It was happy at first, but there was a pinch in the end. It's not just a pinch, it's like a slap of truth in the end. It's like, 'Yes, right?' It's not just a simple pinch or touch.]

Herlene recently starred in “Magandang Dilag,” which marked her first lead role in a series.

Aside from showbiz, she also made a name for herself in pageantry.

She was crowned Miss Philippines Tourism at the Miss Grand International pageant in July. She was also named Binibining Pilipinas 2022 first runner-up.
