'Black Rider' serves action, comedy, kilig in intense pilot episode

"Black Rider" just made an explosive primetime debut on Monday!

Ruru Madrid proved why he's the Kapuso Action-Drama Prince right in his very first scene, saving the day as the gun-toting, bolo knife-wielding Black Rider.

He comes to rescue a teacher (Carla Abellana) and her students taken hostage by terrorists, braving bullets and multiple goons.

Black Rider gets applauded by the public for his help, while the police seems to be suspicious of him.

Before he became Black Rider, however, he was simply Elias Guerrero, an ordinary delivery rider.

The story shifts back to six years ago, showing Black Rider's origins. Elias is a kind-hearted ladies man, a caring son, and a good friend who does not hesitate to help those in need.

His fellow riders (played by Janus del Prado, Empoy, and Jayson Gainza) provide some comic relief from the intense action scenes, but they also risk themselves to help Elias.

Before the pilot ended, Elias meets Bernice (Kylie Padilla) and the preview for the next episode share a glimpse of them falling in love with each other.

Fans could not help but gush as Ruru and Kylie rekindle their on-screen chemistry after previously playing Ybrahim and Amihan in "Encantadia."

"Black Rider" airs weeknights on GMA Telebabad at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." It also stars Yassi Pressman, Jon Lucas, Matteo Guidicelli, Katrina Halili, Rio Locsin, Rainier Castillo, Gladys Reyes, and more.
