5 things to know about John Lloyd Cruz's GF Isabel Santos
There’s more to Isabel Santos than just being a celebrity’s girlfriend.
John Lloyd Cruz confirmed his relationship with Isabel on Tuesday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” but has been sparking romance rumors in 2021.
Following this, the public learned more about Isabel, whose personality and skills are made up of more than what meets the eye.
Here are five things to know about Isabel:
1. Isabel is an accomplished artist
Isabel is one of the Philippines’ best-known visual artists and illustrators. Her pieces range from vintage pop-art paintings, to collages, mixed media work, and abstract art.
Isabel was able to exhibit her work in top galleries and shows in the country, such as West Gallery, Secret Fresh, Silverlens Gallery, Univers, and Art Fair Philippines, among many others.
Not only that, but Isabel had also taken part in artist residency programs in New York, Berlin, Germany, and Marnay Sur Seine, France.
In 2021, she was one of the three Filipino artists who collaborated with Uniqlo Philippines for their 9th anniversary in the country.
2. She is the granddaughter of this legendary Filipino artist
Isabel is the granddaughter of the late legendary cartoonist and painter, Mauro “Malang” Santos, who was best known for his unique takes on the Filipino people and culture.
Her parents, Soler and Mona Santos, are also visual artists and are the owners of West Gallery. Isabel’s siblings Luis Antonio and Carina are artists as well. The family has works in various art forms such as painting, illustration, photography, collage, and many more.
3. Isabel is a very stylish girl
A quick scroll through Isabel’s Instagram feed shows that is a fashion and makeup queen.
She is included in Preview's Best Dressed list of 2023, where she described "her personal style as one that lives in the non-existent in-between that can’t be pinpointed, sitting somewhere in a spectrum."
Always looking effortlessly chic in pieces from Filipino brands like Proudrace, SUOT, HA.MU, Isabel has also started "designing her own ensembles made from scrap materials," Preview said.
Isabel is also into makeup, showcasing looks with different colored eyeshadows and liners.
4. Isabel is fascinated with the post-war era of '40s and the '50s
Isabel loves the aesthetics from the '40s and the '50s, especially the music and the movies — and even the ads — of that time.
"I think aesthetically, yun din yung gusto ko. In terms of the colors I choose, yung medyo mas muted or yellowish. Frank Sinatra and Joan Crawford. The drama that the time had," she tells Esquire Philippines.
"Siguro it's with the limitations noong time na 'yun, and then the colors na lumabas," Isabel continued. Pointing out how easy things have become are these days — "we can do anything" — Isabel said the limited colors of yore, "'yun 'yung attractive sa akin."
5. She is a dog lover
Remember when she and John Lloyd visited a dog shelter and looked to adopt a rescue pup?
Isabel is a dog lover indeed indeed. She is a dedicated furmom, even maintaining an IG account for her dogs Noah and Benny.
