Luis Manzano cries during final message on 'It's Your Lucky Day'

Luis Manzano turned emotional while giving his final message on the finale episode of “It’s Your Lucky Day” on Friday.

Before the noontime show ended, Luis was joined by his fellow hosts on stage as well as his wife, actress Jessy Mendiola.

Each host gave a message, expressing gratitude for the opportunity of being on “It’s Your Lucky Day.”

Luis was the last host to speak. He looked back on their first episode which was already an emotional experience.

“Actually, dun palang, bumagsak na 'yung mga luha natin nun. Lumabas na lahat ng emosyon dahil siguro natanggap na natin 'yung realidad na siguro pansamantala, ['yung] huling pagsasama natin,” he said.

Luis also thanked his co-hosts. He told them that when was asked to choose the artists to join the show, “naniniwala ako na kailangan ko kayo para sa lahat ng mga Ka-Lucky natin.”

The actor-host then became emotional.

“Bukod sa aking may bahay, bukod sa aking anak, bukod sa aking magulang, pamilya — 'pag may kumausap sa ‘kin at tinanong, ‘Ano 'yung pinaka favorite mo na moment nung nag-ho-host ka for 20-plus years?’ [I answer them] ‘It’s Your Lucky Day,’” Luis said through tears.

The host also thanked the show’s director and production crew, and said that he will pray for them everyday “dahil tuloy ang buhay ninyo pagkatapos ng ‘It’s Your Lucky Day.’ Tuloy ang laban.”

He added, “Kung ano man 'yung pinagraanan niyo before, pinagdaraanan niyo ngayon, pagdadaaran sa mga susunod na araw, nandito pa rin kami para sa inyo, and we love you.”

After a group hug, Luis said, “It is our great honor na magpasaya sa inyong lahat nang panandalian para mapawi iyong mga problema.”

He added, “At sa ating ‘Showtime’ family, we welcome you back. Maraming maraming salamat sa pagpapatuloy sa iyong tahanan, at tutuloy niyo rin ang kasiyahan.”

Luis said that this may not be the end of the short-lived show.

“Mga Ka-Lucky, sabay sabay po tayong magdasal. Kapit lang, sabi nga nilang lahat,” Luis said. “Malay naman natin this is not goodbye. Magkikitakita ulit tayo kung saan solid ang swerte at saya. Mga Ka-Lucky, our staff, our family, we love you,” he said.

The hosts and audience ended the show by answering Luis’ question, “What day is it?”

“It’s your lucky day!” they yelled.

“It’s Your Lucky Day” aired its last episode on Friday, October 27. The noontime show was well-received by Filipino viewers, who are hoping for an extended run. Aside from Luis, the show was hosted by Shaina Magdayao, Robi Domingo, Melai Cantiveros, Jennica Garcia, and many more. Kapuso actress Bianca Umali joined the show as a guest host.

It temporarily replaced "It's Showtime" for 12 days. "It's Showtime” was suspended over a scene between hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez during the "Isip Bata" segment on July 25, allegedly portraying “indecent acts.”

After “currently exploring all our remedies and options,” and a denied reconsideration, ABS-CBN decided not to appeal to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). —Nika Roque/JCB,GMA Integrated News
