John Lloyd Cruz on being bothered by fans shipping him and Bea Alonzo: 'Mahirap sabihing hindi'

Since their first pairing in 2002, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo’s projects have always been hits, establishing a strong JL-Bea fanbase.

It became unavoidable for the two to be constantly shipped together, with fans always hoping that they would end up together in real life.

On Tuesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” John Lloyd was asked if he has ever felt uncomfortable with fans shipping him and Bea.

“Mahirap sabihing hindi,” he answered.

[It’s difficult to say no.]

He continued, “Siguro, para akong nagsisinungaling kung sasabihin kong kahit isang beses hindi ako na-ilang dun sa gusto ng tao at hindi siya sumagi sa isip ko, ‘di ba?”

[Maybe I’d be lying if I say I wasn’t bothered just once about what people want and it didn’t cross my mind.]

John Lloyd, however, said he was "fascinated" by how he and Bea handled them without needing to discuss the issue.

“Pero, siguro ‘yung as people, ‘yung kami dalawa ni Bea bilang part ng build namin, dun siguro, isa ‘yun sa mga pinaka-fascinated rin ako about dun sa paano namin siya hinandle nang hindi namin pinag-uusapan,” he said.

[But as people, Bea and I, as part of our build, it’s one of the things I’m fascinated about, how we’re able to handle it without talking about it.]

“Never namin pinag-usapan ‘yun, eh,” he said.

[We never discussed it.]

Over the weekend, John Lloyd and Bea reunited with friends including actress Dimples Romana to celebrate “Popoy and Basha’s anniversary.”

Popoy and Basha's love story is at the center of "One More Chance," the iconic film which will be staged as a musical in 2024 featuring the songs of Ben&Ben.

In 2022, they also saw each other at the GMA Gala Night, years after they did a commercial together.
