Mikoy Morales on intimate scenes in 'Tether': 'Uncomfortable, but I found it liberating'
Mikoy Morales pulled off an award-winning performance in "Tether," where he played an arrogant playboy.
But what did the Sparkle actor think of the intimate scenes he partook in?
In an interview on "Updated With Nelson Canlas," Mikoy gamely described the filming experience, sharing that he had to stay naked for long periods of time, with only 'makeshift plaster' taped on his skin to cover his sensitive parts.
"So I just sit around in that... like nagkakape ako na nakaganun na, sige," he said. "Uncomfortable kasi 'yung tapes. Pero in general, I think I found it liberating."
"I found it liberating na to the point na parang, uy e di ibig sabihin effective 'yung ginawa naming intimacy workshop. Kasi I felt that comfortable onset, so parang sinakyan ko na," he added.
Mikoy said that he and his co-actors, director, and producer underwent an intimacy workshop ahead of filming to "set your boundaries."
"Para maging comfortable to say no," he said. "Tapos there's this thing na parang sugat na parang as pleasers sometimes, may mga artista on set na you want to please the directors or the producers and all, we say yes to things kahit na alam natin afterwards it might scar us."
"And these scars can accumulate, it can become trauma," he added. "So du'n siya nagiging wary about na parang you have to take note of this, na kahit na sabihin natin oo... pero pag-uwi mo sa bahay, pagsisisihan mo ba 'yung ginawa mo? Meron ka bang regret? Kasi kahit konti mag-a-accummulate 'yun and then wala, mawawalan ka ng trust sa set. Mas mahihirapan ka umarte kasi hindi ka relaxed."
Mikoy won the Best Actor Award at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival in August.
He plays Libag in the new "Maging Sino Ka Man" starring David Licauco and Barbie Forteza.
Libag was originally played by Dennis Padilla in the '90s film of the same title. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
