Barbie Forteza on awards in Gawad PASADO for ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’: ‘Napakasaya ng puso ni Klay’
Barbie Forteza's Klay in "Maria Clara at Ibarra" will always be iconic.
In the recently concluded 25th Gawad PASADO Awards, the Kapuso Primetime Princess won the "Pinakapasadong Aktres ng Telebisyon" for portraying Klay in the GMA historical portal fantasy series.
Aside from Barbie, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" was also named the "Pinakapasadong Teleserye" in Gawad PASADO, as well as her breakout loveteam with David Licauco, BarDa (also known as FiLay), as the "Pinakapasadong Dangal ng Kabataan."
“Siguro isa lang itong patunay na dapat pa tayong gumawa ng napakaraming ganitong klaseng proyekto para talagang mabalikan ang kahalagahan ng ating kasaysayan,” Barbie said in her interview with Nelson Canlas in “24 Oras.”
On Instagram, Barbie thanked the award-giving body for the recognition.
“Napakasaya ng puso ni Klay,” she wrote.
“Maraming salamat pong muli, Gawad Pasado sa mga pagkilalang ito at sa ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra,’” she added.
Gawad PASADO is an award-giving body under PASADO, a film organization of teachers from various private and public elementary, high schools, and colleges in the Philippines.
It is the latest in a slew of recognitions that "Maria Clara at Ibarra" has been receiving.
In April, "Maria Clara at Ibarra" won a bronze medal at the 2023 New York Festivals for Entertainment Program: Drama.
"Maria Clara at Ibarra" aired its finale last February, but you may rewatch the series on Netflix, where it's conquered the top spot among TV shows in the Philippine market for a number weeks.
