Ruru Madrid on how he lasted in showbiz: 'Talagang makapal lang 'yung mukha ko'

Ruru Madrid has been through a lot in his 11 years in showbiz.

From starting out as a contestant on “Protégé,” getting supporting roles, and then with the pandemic putting his career on pause, the actor admitted going through periods of insecurity and depression that almost made him quit the industry.

But after going through these challenges, Ruru’s had his dreams come true with big projects like the upcoming series “Black Rider” and the movie “Video City.”

So when Ruru renewed his contract with Sparkle GMA Artist Center, he looked back at his career beginnings and how that led to where he is today.

“I started na sobrang patpatin, payat. Wala pong naniniwala sa akin noon na kakayanin ko maging artista,” he said.

The Kapuso Action Drama Prince said that it is his hard work and determination that made him stay and make it in showbiz.

Ayun 'yung naging pambato ko,” he said.

“Siguro it’s the resiliency na meron ako, na kahit na ano pang mangyari sa kin na… sabi ko nga, kahit na wala nang ibang tao na naniniwala sa ‘kin, as long as ako, naniniwala ako sa sarili ko, makakamit ko yung pangarap na yan,” he added.

Ruru also gave some wise words for aspiring and young actors to keep dreaming and continue working hard.

He then said that to last in the industry, one must treat others well.

Ruru also thanked GMA for the continued trust.

“In every projects na pinagkakatiwala niyo sa ‘kin, I will give everything, more than 100 percent pa, dahil 'yan ang [point] ng tiwalang pinagkaloob niyo so gusto ko pong suklian lahat ng 'yun.”

Aside from his new projects, Ruru is known for starring in “Lolong,” “The Write One,” and “Running Man Philippines.—JCB, GMA Integrated News
