'Maging Sino Ka Man' fans get kilig as Monique calls Carding 'David Licauco,' 'Fidel'
"Maging Sino Ka Man" just got very meta on Wednesday's episode!
Team BarDa fans could not help but feel the kilig when Barbie Forteza's character, Monique, called Carding "David Licauco."
Monique was intoxicated at that time as she was partying in a bar. Later, when Carding thought she has already sobered up, she called him "Fidel."
Fidel is David's character in hit historical portal fantasy series "Maria Clara at Ibarra." He was paired with Barbie's Klay, giving birth to the Team FiLay ship.
Fans have been tickled by this nod to their previous tandem, quipping that Carding must be Fidel's great-grandson.
Carding later gave Monique a piggyback ride home, and a jaded Monique asked him if he believes in love.
His answer can be interpreted as a reference to Fidel and Klay's story in "Maria Clara at Ibarra."
"Sabi nga nila ang pag-ibig ang pinakamalakas sa puwersa sa mundo, kaya pag mahal mo ang isang tao, matatama mo ang panahon at madidiktahan mo ang tadhana," he said.
"Maging Sino Ka Man" is a remake of the iconic '90s film of the same name, which starred Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla.
Aside from Barbie and David, it also stars Jean Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, Juancho Triviño, Rain Matienzo, Mikoy Morales, Faith da Silva, ER Ejercito, Jeric Raval, and more.
Directed by Enzo Williams, the special limited series airs weekdays on GMA Telebabad at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
