Stell says SB19 pushed him to accept 'The Voice Generation,' adds group welcomes solo projects for each member
SB19 boys have nothing but support for each other — even if it’s for solo projects!
Stell shared the boys were very supportive of him for his solo stint as a coach on “The Voice Generations.”
On Tuesday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the main choreographer of SB19 said his fellow members Pablo, Josh, Ken, and Justin were among those who pushed him to accept the project.
“Sabi po nila sa’kin, ‘Stell, ‘pag ‘di mo pa tinanggap ‘yang project na ‘yan, ‘di na namin alam gagawin sa’yo,’” he said.
[They told me, 'Stell, if you don't accept that project, we wouldn't know what to do with you anymore.]
According to Stell, he is picky with the projects he accepts, and takes his time making a decision because SB19 is his priority.
“Kasi po ako, gusto ko po i-prioritize ‘yung group muna. Like, nasa SB19 ako, so ‘yung gagawin ko is all about SB19 first,” he said. “But when this project po approached me, sabi ko, bigatin ‘to. Like, parang, hindi ko alam pa’no ko ‘to ite-take.”
[I want to priortize the group because I am part of it so it's all about SB19 first. But when this project came up, I said, this is different. I didn't know how to accept it.]
He continued, “But with the help of my group, my team, my family, sila ‘yung nagpakita at nagparamdam sa’kin na, ‘you really deserve that spot. Kunin mo na, and binigay ‘yan sa’yo kasi alam nilang kaya mo and dapat tanggapin mo nang buong-buo.’”
[With the help of my group, my team, my family — they were the ones who showed me and made me feel that I really deserve to be in The Voice Generations. 'Take the job. It was offered to you because they know you can do it. You need to accept it wholeheartedly.]
Stell added SB19 welcomes solo projects for each of their members as long as the group’s schedule is not affected.
“Okay po sa’min tumanggap ng solo projects, basta hindi po naba-bangga ‘yung schedule ng group,” he said.
“Kasi ang sabi nga po namin, ayaw namin na naka-kahon kami nang lima lang. We know na each one of us, may gustong i-pursue,” Stell added. “So bakit namin s’ya pipigilan i-pursue kung ano ‘yung gusto n’ya, eh dun s’ya mag-go-grow.”
[As we said, we don't want to be boxed up. We know each of us want to pursue something. So why will we stop each other from pursuing what they want, if they will grow from the experience?]
Stell joined Chito Miranda, Billy Crawford, and Julie Anne San Jose as the coaches for "The Voice Generations," the newest spin-off of the world's biggest singing competition.
