Here’s how Jean Garcia perfects her on-screen slap scenes

Jean Garcia is among the most popular kontrabidas, with iconic on-screen slap scenes!

On Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the veteran actress shared some techniques and reminders on how to do it properly.

As a safety precaution and also a sign of respect, Jean said “dapat wala kang accessories.”

“Kailangan tatanggalin mo kasi ayaw mo ng aksidenteng masasaktan mo sila,” Jean said.

Jean stressed the importance of a well-calculated distance between herself and her co-actor.

“Kailangan sukat mo kasi hindi naman pupwede pag sinampal ka, dito, masakit ‘yon,” Jean said while pointing at the head. “Masakit din sa kamay mo kasi para kang nanuntok eh.”

“So dapat, ang sampal, ito,” Jean added, referring to the cheek. “So dapat, sukat mo yan.”

“Ang sinasabi ko lang sa co-actor ko: ‘wag kang gagalaw, ‘wag mong i-expect yung aking sampal. Kasi pag in-expect mo ‘yung sampal ko, kapag nauna ‘yung ilag mo, tatamaan ka sa tenga, masakit,” she said.

[I tell my co-actor not to move, and to not expect my slap. Because if you expect it, if you avoid it, you might get hit on your ear. That hurts.]

Jean also tweaks the script a little bit “para hindi n’ya ini-expect.”

Jean is set to star in “Maging Sino Ka Man” with Barbie Forteza and David Licauco.

Other cast members include Faith da Silva, Jean Saburit, Rain Matienzo, Mikoy Morales, Jeric Raval, E.R. Ejercito, and Juancho Triviño, who by the way, already has already experienced Jean’s hard-hitting slap!

“Isang urban legend daw na malakas [manampal] sa eksena si [Ms.] Jean, at dumating na ang araw na ito ay aking hinarap,” Juancho said in a social media post as he shared a behind-the-scenes clip on the series’ set.

"Maging Sino Ka Man" will premiere on September 11.
