Susan Enriquez lightens mood at Mike Enriquez's memorial: 'Si Tita Baby ang totoong asawa'

Susan Enriquez lightened the mood at Mike Enriquez's memorial service with her speech on Friday.

As Mike Enriquez’s GMA colleagues came together to honor the late broadcast journalist, Susan Enriquez clarified yet again that she was not Mike’s wife, after she was jokingly introduced by hosts Pia Arcangel and Arnold Clavio as “Mrs. Mike Enriquez.”

Susan started her eulogy by saying, “Sana pagkalibing ni sir, tapos na 'yang chismis.”

Susan wittily called on the politicians and celebrities present at the wake. “Ikalat niyo po! Si Tita Baby po ang asawa.”

“At pagka ako’y nagre-report kay Sir Mike, eh ako po’y talagang inaabot na katakot-takot na tanong,” she added.

Susan also said that Mike had always been a very giving person.

“Pag nasa remote [coverage], masarap pong kantsawan si Sir Mike,” she said.

Aside from his generous heart, Mike was a dedicated journalist, Susan said. “Strikto, perfectionist po 'yan. Naku, talaga!”

Mike Enriquez passed away at the age of 71. He was married to Lizabeth “Baby” Yumping.

He was one of the anchors of GMA’s flagship newscast “24 Oras” and hosted the long-running GMA Public Affairs program “Imbestigador.”

On Tuesday, Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales could not help but cry as they reported Mike’s death on “24 Oras.”

Following the sad news, Mike was remembered by many, including his alma mater, De La Salle University.

He was also remembered by GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon as someone who “was at his best at any time of the day.” —JCB, GMA Integrated News
