Chito Miranda on bandmate Gab Chee Kee's health: 'Nothing but good news'

Parokya Ni Edgar’s guitarist Gab Chee Kee is well on his way to recovery.

In an interview on “Updated with Nelson Canlas,” vocalist Chito Miranda gave an update about his friend’s health.

“I am so happy to say na mag-la-last session na yata siya ng chemotherapy and everything looks fine,” he said. “After ng last chemo [or] next chemotherapy niya, after one-month checkup, maka-back to normal na lahat.”

“The Voice Generations” coach added that everyone is still praying for Gab.

“[Ayokong] mag final sabi na he's good na and everything. I want to go through the process of really pag 'yung doctor na ang nagsabi na, ‘okay na, game na,” Chito added.
 
Chito also said that Gab is “on his way” to healing.

“Nothing but good news every time ina-update kami ng girlfriend niya, ng partner niya. Ganiyan si Gab, sobrang nakakatuwa, sobrang nakakatuwa,” he said.
 
Chito also took the opportunity to thank those who helped Gab, even if it was just through simple prayers.

“Ay naku, sobrang laking bagay kasi talagang without them, wala na talaga si Gab ngayon. It's such a big help na na-overcome niya 'yun with the grabeng medical expenses, nagtulong-tulong lahat.”

“Even the Eraserheads, they helped out," he added. "And the other bands, too many to mention. Even bands that we're not really associated with na hindi namin ka-close, nalaman namin nag fundraising for Gab, sobrang we appreciate everyone so much. Bands like Kamikazee, kahit mukhang mga basagulero 'yong mga 'yon, talagang they made so many gigs all for Gab.”

Chito also said that Gab felt everybody’s love for him.

“We are surrounded with people that care for our band so much, not just Gab for the whole band,” he said. “Mas lalo na [nagulat si Gab at sinabi,] ‘dami palang nagmamahal sa akin.’ Oo naman."

“Parang hindi niya rin alam 'yun kasi tahimik lang 'yun, ang liit lang ng circle of friends niya. Tapos akala niya wala siyang kaibigan masyado kasi tahimik lang 'yon,” Chito added.

Last January, it was revealed that Gab was hospitalized due to pneumonia, a complication brought on by his lymphoma.

The band and their friends in the industry helped raise funds, including Parokya gems and Francis M’s polo in the “Bagsakan” music video being put up for auction.

Gab was discharged from the hospital in March and was able to join a Parokya gig in April. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
