Why Maureen Larrazabal switched from sexy star to comedienne

Maureen Larrazabal opened up on why she transitioned from her career as a sexy star to become a comedienne.

On Thursday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," Maureen said she has long dreamed of becoming an actress and when she was offered a break by VIVA, she did not hesitate to grab the opportunity.

"That time, uso ang sexy sa VIVA. So wala akong choice kasi gustong-gusto ko talaga," she said.

"Ever since bata ako this is my dream and only dream to be an artista
and this is my chance, so wala sa utak ko to say no," she added.

Maureen, however, realized that a career as a sexy actress has a time limit. She was aware that opportunities will decline once she becomes older.

"'Pag nag-sexy ako hindi puwedeng forever, hindi ko siya puwedeng gawin for the rest of my life," she said. "So kailangan mapunta ako sa isang sanga ng pag aartista na mas lasting kesa sa pagiging sexy star."

When she landed a gig at a comedy show, that's when found her true calling. It was also a bonus that as a sexy comedienne, she had little competition.

She only had Rufa Mae Quinto and Ethel Booba as her contemporaries, compared to the many sexy stars in the industry.

"Nag-decide ako na mag-turn down ng mga offers na talagang todo sexy para hindi ako ma-typecast," she said.

Maureen starred in family sitcom "Pepito Manaloto." She also used to be part of the "Bubble Gang" cast.
