Mike Enriquez's family to hold public wake on Saturday

Mike Enriquez’s family is set to hold a public wake on Saturday, open to supporters of the late broadcaster.

It will be held at the Christ The King Parish, Greenmeadows in Quezon City on September 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guests are also encouraged to donate to the GMA Kapuso Foundation instead of giving flowers.

Enriquez passed away on Tuesday at the age of 71. He took a medical leave in December 2021 to undergo a kidney transplant and returned to work in time for the 2022 election coverage.

The GMA Network pillar entered the broadcasting industry in 1969, then became part of the network in 1995. He served as a journalist for 54 years.

Enriquez is best known for being an anchor on "24 Oras" and "Imbestigador" and the DZBB programs "Super Balita sa Umaga" and "Saksi sa Dobol B."

Fellow "24 Oras" anchors Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales turned emotional as they reported his death. Tributes from fellow reporters such as Pia Arcangel, Kuya Kim Atienza, Raffy Tima, Susan Enriquez, and Joel Reyes Zobel also quickly poured in. Celebrities such as Dingdong Dantes and Boy Abunda also shared some touching messages.

A small tribute was also set up at Enriquez’s star on the German Moreno Walk of Fame in Quezon City, and he was honored by his alma mater, De La Salle University. Enriquez’s supporters have also made artworks to pay tribute to him.
