Paolo Contis play gay wrestler in upcoming film with John Arcilla
Paolo Contis is set to play a gay wrestler in "Fuschia Libre," his upcoming film with John Arcilla.
According to a report on PEP.ph, Paolo and John will star as father and son in the film, which will be directed by RC de los Reyes and produced by Mavx Productions.
Paolo said the story will follow his character's journey towards earning the acceptance of his father.
"I think this is really very relevant especially these days.
O, bading ka, tapos," he added.
Paolo added that the film has some humor aside from drama, but they will be sensitive about it.
Pero we'll make sure na hindi offensive, of course," he said.
The Sparkle actor, who has played gay roles before, said he is excited to play a deeper character this time.
"Actually I've been playing that character before na medyo caricature and everything," he said. "So, kaya ko gusto ang character na ito, it’s a more serious take on the LGBTQ na role."
Paolo has starred in several Mavx-produced films, such as "Through Night and Day," "A Faraway Land," and "Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap."
He is also one of the mainstays of "Bubble Gang," which airs on Sundays at 6:15 p.m. after "24 Oras Weekend."
Meanwhile, John previously starred in "Ten Little Mistresses" and "A Hard Day."
