David Licauco says he practices 'kanto' slang to prepare for 'Maging Sino Ka Man' role
David Licauco is embracing his bad boy era as he plays Carding in upcoming series "Maging Sino Ka Man."
In Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Sunday, the Pambansang Ginoo said he had to practice a different way of speaking for the role.
He spoke a more formal version of Tagalog as Fidel in "Maria Clara at Ibarra," but this time, he has to speak in a more casual way.
"Kinakausap ko iyong mga kaibigan ko na, you know, medyo kanto, ganun," he said.
David said he has to get used to saying things like "tol!" and "tropapeepz!"
The Sparkle star also did action scenes as Carding. A sneak peek at some of these scenes has already reached a million views online as fans eagerly await David in his new role.
"Nung nakita ko nagulat ako kasi, 'Uy wow, mukhang action star ako dito ah,'" he said.
He also previously practiced his slingshot skills for the role.
Meanwhile, he and his love team Barbie Forteza said they have gotten closer after doing several shows together.
"After 2-3 shows, OK finally naglu-loosen up na siya mga Kapuso!" Barbie said, teasing David.
The two have been known for their strong chemistry during bardagulan scenes, but they also display the same dynamic off screen.
"Puwede mo naman ako kausapin anytime!" David told Barbie.
"OK noted," Barbie replied.
"Maging Sino Ka Man" is an adaptation of the '90s film of the same name, which starred Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla.
