Geneva Cruz says fellow Smokey Mountain bandmates courted her in the past

Geneva Cruz revealed that her fellow Smokey Mountain bandmates, Jeffrey Hidalgo, James Coronel, and Tony Lambino, have courted her before!

On Friday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Geneva was asked what was her fondest memory with the band.

“So many," she began, before saying “Niligawan nila akong tatlo.”

“Pero minahal ko sila, hanggang ngayon, mahal ko pa rin sila," Geneva said.

The 47-year-old star recalled that she was Jeffrey’s graduation ball date, while James was “napaka-torpe.”

“Tony Lambino, yun yung mas ‘Hi, how are you? I love you,’ bago kumanta. Ang lakas ng loob. Sabi ko, Atenista!” Geneva continued, obviously relishing the memory.

Smokey Mountain is a group of young singers assembled by National Artist for Music and Ramon Magsaysay awardee Ryan Cayabyab in the late '80s and early '90s.

Under his tutelage, the group would go on to top the charts, and win international singing contests. They are best known for songs like "Paraiso," "Da Coconut Nut," and "Kailan."

In 2020, Geneva turned sentimental on Instagram and said, "Smokey Mountain changed our lives forever.” — Carby Basina/LA, GMA Integrated News
